Volunteer at AWS

Thank you so much for your interest joining AWS’ team of dedicated and caring volunteers. Volunteers provide invaluable service to our animals, programs and services. Our volunteers have a wide variety of skills and expertise and we want YOU to get the most of our your time volunteering at AWS. We offer flexible schedules for volunteers and have many different opportunities at our facility and throughout our programs and services.

Volunteer with the Animals

Love animals? Want to spend time with them while they wait for their new homes? We have plenty of things for you to do – all sorts of time commitments and schedules are accommodated and tasks can include:

  • Cleaning dog kennels
  • Cleaning cat housing
  • Tidying up animal spaces
  • Hanging out with cats
  • Walking dogs
  • Visiting with small animals
  • Making enrichments and toys
  • And lots more!

Assist with Daily Operations

Volunteers keep our facility running smoothly each and every day. There are plenty of ways to help including:

  • Doing laundry
  • Running errands
  • Sorting donations
  • Washing windows
  • Helping with youth programs
  • Answering telephone inquiries
  • Greeting guests in the adoption center lobby
  • And much, much more!

We welcome adult and teen volunteers. Teen volunteers aged 14-15 are invited to volunteer at AWS with a parent/guardian volunteering alongside them. Those aged 16-17 are welcome to volunteer individually with a parent/guardian’s consent. Through our Youth Programs, we offer a number of other special volunteering opportunities for students in our community.
